PESHAWAR: Just days before PTI’s planned long march to Islamabad on September 27, internal divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have deepened instead of easing.
Senior leaders are now openly accusing each other, while party workers have also turned against elected representatives and the disputes are being debated widely on social media. The main clash has emerged between four prominent PTI figures in the province. Former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Senator Dost Muhammad Khan, former Governor Shah Farman, and Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan are all at odds.
Senator Dost Muhammad Khan has directly questioned Ali Amin Gandapur over development funds and projects in South Waziristan. He accused Gandapur of only being concerned with one constituency and failing to serve the district properly. In reply, Ali Amin Gandapur said that over 3 billion rupees had been provided for South Waziristan during the fiscal years 2024-25 and 2025-26.At the same time, former Governor Shah Farman raised objections to Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan regarding the distribution of development funds.
Soon after, an alleged audio clip attributed to Junaid Akbar appeared in which he leveled serious allegations against Shah Farman. In that audio, Junaid Akbar claimed that Malakand had received the least development funds in the province. He also alleged that Shah Farman had called Shakeel Khan and a contractor to discuss receiving one billion rupees and dividing it among themselves. The infighting is not confined to the top leadership. In Mardan, PTI workers expressed strong anger against MPA Iftikhar Mashwani and criticized him openly online. In Peshawar, PTI District Peshawar General Secretary Khursheed Alam went a step further and threatened to hold sit-ins outside the homes of all PTI MPAs from the city.
He also declared that the promises made by PTI’s 13-year government in KP were lies. This statement prompted PTI Regional General Secretary Sher Ali Arbab to issue a warning notice to Khursheed Alam. With the September 27 march to Islamabad approaching, these public disputes over funds, influence, and development have exposed deep cracks within PTI KP.
Instead of presenting a united front, the party’s provincial leadership appears divided, and the disagreements are now out in the open for both supporters and opponents to see.
