ISLAMABAD: The concerned authorities have advised people traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) about following guidelines with respect to the transport of medicines, cautioning them that a breach could land them in jail and cost them substantial fines.
The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued an awareness notice cautioning travellers about following UAE guidelines with respect to medications and narcotics.
The notice says that foreigners traveling to the UAE can carry only a small quantity of medicines for their personal use. In case of transportation of excessive quantities, there could be problems.
It is mentioned that certain narcotics and medicines are banned in the UAE, which includes some medicines with ingredients like codeine.
It is added that people who transport medicines without having an authentic prescription from a doctor will face serious legal troubles.
Travelers were also informed that carrying medicines without official authorization on prescription will not be tolerated in the UAE.
The bureau said that people could face imprisonment and fines for violations of UAE medication laws, with the fines reaching more than 20,000 dirhams in some cases.
Interior Ministry clarifies reports regarding deportation of Pakistanis from UAE
Earlier, the Ministry of Interior has taken notice of speculative reporting in sections of the media, especially social media, about targeted deportations of Pakistani nationals from the brotherly Islamic country of UAE.
According to a statement issued by the government on Friday, the Ministry said it had gone through the details and data, and it is necessary to state that all such reporting is malicious and part of vicious propaganda by vested interests. No country or sect-specific deportations from any country, including UAE, are being carried out.
Deportations, if any, are a routine process in line with the host country’s regulations and legal system, violations of their laws, overstays and illegal documentation.
At the same time, Pakistani nationals, having fulfilled host country visa and work-based requirements, continue to visit and access work visas in UAE and other friendly countries without prejudice.
Fake news being peddled to the contrary, along with social media posts, is malicious and fabricated to serve ulterior motives.
Any issue or access with any Pakistani national is always taken up on a case-by-case basis with the concerned country through established foreign office channels.
