PESHAWAR: At least two policemen were injured and a police mobile van was damaged when it was targeted in a blast here on Sunday.

In media talks, CCPO Dr Mian Saeed confirmed the incident and said that two policemen have been injured in the blast. He said that explosive material was planted in the green belt on the roadside. Police mobile is usually parked at this location, he said

A police mobile van belonging to Gulbahar Police Station was targeted near Pir Zakori Bridge. The explosion is stated to be an IED blast reportedly planted by miscreants.

Soon after the incident, police personnel rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence. However, the two injured policemen were provided medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. The police van was damaged in the incident.

Initial findings suggest that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), though officials said investigations are still underway to determine the exact nature of the blast.

Police and forensic teams have launched a detailed investigation, while security has been tightened in the area. Authorities said all aspects of the incident are being examined.
