The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in operating an illegal website called Mini NADRA and selling sensitive and personal data of Pakistani citizens.
The suspects, identified as Muhammad Arsalan and Ali Raza, were arrested during a major operation in Lahore. Authorities said approximately 3 terabytes of highly sensitive and personal digital data was recovered from their possession.
According to investigators, the suspects had illegally obtained and were allegedly selling sensitive data belonging to more than 10 million Pakistani citizens.
The recovered information reportedly includes SIM card ownership and registration details, call detail records (CDRs), SIM databases, citizens’ live locations, family trees and highly sensitive information related to government institutions.
The investigation further revealed that the suspects had established the Mini NADRA website to provide information related to NADRA and were allegedly involved in accessing a dark platform called Khoji for the illegal buying and selling of sensitive data.
The NCCIA said two mobile phones were also seized from the suspects, while the recovered 3TB of digital data has been sent to a laboratory for comprehensive forensic analysis.
A case has been registered against the suspects under the relevant cybercrime laws, and further investigation is underway.
