WASHINGTON: The United States President Donald Trump has reiterated America’s commitment to peace in the Middle East, expressing hope for a comprehensive ceasefire involving Lebanon, Hezbollah, Israel, and other regional fronts.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump urged all parties in the Middle East to remain committed to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at advancing negotiations and maintaining regional stability.
The US president also highlighted positive market reactions to recent developments, noting that global markets were responding favorably to declining oil prices and rising stock values. He described the drop in oil prices as a success for the United States and a sign of progress toward broader regional stability.
Trump dismissed reports claiming that the United States was planning to provide Iran with $300 billion, calling the reports “fake news” and accusing political opponents of spreading misinformation.
Reaffirming Washington’s peace efforts, Trump said the United States expects a complete ceasefire across all active fronts, including those involving Lebanon, Hezbollah, and Israel.
Speaking earlier to journalists in Paris, Trump remarked that it would be somewhat unfair for Iran to be denied ballistic missile capabilities if other countries in the region possess similar systems.
He suggested that a proportionate missile capability for Iran could be acceptable if countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar maintain such arsenals.
Trump also stated that despite the end of the nearly four-month-long conflict involving Iran, the United States intends to maintain its military presence in the Gulf region for some time to support stability and security.
