The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Monday night closed multiple sections of various motorways due to dense fog, to ensure the safety of the travellers.

According to the NHMP announcement, dense fog created hazardous conditions for driving, and the section from Swabi Interchange (Kilometre 420) to Peshawar Main Toll Plaza (Kilometre 498) of the M-1 motorway has been temporarily closed.

It said M2 closed from Thokar Niaz Baig to Hiron Minar, M3 closed from Faizpur to Jarnwala, similarly, it closed from Jaranwala to Darkhana and Lahore to Sambhrial.

NHMP said that due to dense fog, the visibility has been significantly reduced.

It also urged the public to avoid travelling in the fog-affected areas at night and early morning to avoid untoward incidents.
