ISLAMABAD: In order to ensure a smooth traffic flow, Islamabad administration on Saturday issued a traffic plan ahead of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women being held at the federal capital from July 12, 2026.

The two-day OIC Ministerial Conference will take place at Jinnah Convention Centre, which will conclude on July 13. The special traffic plan will remain in effect from July 11, 8:00am till July 13, 12:00pm, officials said.

In this connection, authorities have directed motorists not to use traffic diversion from Suhrawardy Chowk to Serena Chowk and only use the Embassy road. Moreover, the Constitution Avenue (France Turn to Serena Chowk), this route would have only one-way traffic during the OIC meeting.

No traffic would be allowed on Aabpara via Srinagar Highway to Serena Chowk, only 7th Avenue from Srinagar Highway would remain open for traffic. Likewise, diversion from Kashmir Chowk to Serena Hotel, use 7th Avenue from Srinagar Highway.

The authorities expecting a brief VIP movement during the arrival and departure of delegates, which may cause temporary traffic disruption. Citizens have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and use the recommended alternative routes to avoid delays.

Islamabad is set to host the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women on 12 and 13 July at the Jinnah Convention Centre, bringing together ministers, policymakers and senior officials from the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The significant OIC forum will discuss issues related to women, promote gender equality, women’s empowerment and inclusive development across the Muslim world.

Some 190 delegates are expected to attend the two-day summit, where the participants will focus on increasing women’s participation in political and professional life, improving access to economic opportunities and financial resources, and promoting inclusive development to enable women to contribute more fully to their societies.
