ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced four special facilities for citizens aged 60 and above to make access to identity-related services easier.
According to an awareness message issued by NADRA, dedicated priority counters have been established for senior citizens at all NADRA offices across the country. The counters allow elderly citizens to receive services on a priority basis.
NADRA also offers a Mobile Registration Service (Mobile Pak ID) for senior citizens who are unable to visit its offices due to age or physical limitations. Under the facility, eligible citizens can access NADRA services at their homes, reducing the need to travel to a registration centre.
The authority has also introduced facial recognition as an alternative for biometric verification in cases where elderly citizens face difficulty with fingerprint verification. NADRA said fingerprints may become faint with age, making conventional biometric verification difficult, while facial recognition can facilitate the identification process.
Another facility is the lifetime-valid identity card for citizens aged 60 and above. According to NADRA, identity cards issued after a citizen reaches the age of 60 remain valid for life and do not require periodic renewal.
NADRA has advised senior citizens to contact their nearest registration centre for assistance with identity-document-related services and to benefit from the facilities available to them.
