QUETTA: Security forces in Balochistan successfully foiled an attempted terrorist operation targeting a major highway near Rodinjo Cross, preventing potential damage to vehicles and infrastructure. Two armed assailants were killed during the ensuing action.

According to official sources, intelligence reports indicated that militants were planning to block the central highway. In response, security agencies intensified surveillance and implemented precautionary measures at multiple locations in the area.

During the operation, security personnel observed suspicious movement and attempted to intercept the individuals. A brief exchange of fire ensued, allowing some attackers to flee the scene initially. Forces pursued them across several kilometers, recovering two motorcycles used by the militants.

Later, near the village of Gaywan, south of Rodinjo Cross, the assailants tried to stop and set fire to two trailers, reportedly opening fire on the vehicles and attempting to damage the driver cabins.

Security forces arrived promptly at the scene, engaging the militants. Following a targeted pursuit, two armed individuals were neutralized, and their bodies, along with weapons, were secured.

Authorities recovered a substantial cache of arms and equipment, including modern rifles, submachine guns, multiple magazines, hand grenades, mobile phones, communication devices, and motorcycles.

Officials confirmed that search and clearance operations are ongoing in the region to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure public safety.
