Security forces shot down eight drones intruded into Pakistan’s airspace from Afghanistan soil

RAWALPINDI : Eight drones from the Afghan Taliban regime intruded into Pakistan’s airspace this morning, however, Pakistan Armed Forces’ active and vigilant air defence system shot down all the drones, security sources confirmed.

The Shaheens of Pakistan Armed Forces and Pakistan Air Force professionally foiled the cowardly attempt by the Afghan Taliban regime to target public places, security sources said.Four drones were shot down in areas adjacent to Torkham border and four drones were downed in hilly areas of border adjacent to Kohat, security sources added.

This infiltration is yet another proof of direct support and patronage of terrorists by the Afghan Taliban regime, security sources said.It may be recalled that last night Pakistan Armed Forces also destroyed several bunkers and hideouts of the Afghan Taliban regime in Kurram Sector in response to provocative firing.

Earlier, the Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mian Saeed said that footage had also been obtained showing explosives being dropped from the drone. According to CCPO Mian Saeed, the attack attempt was thwarted due to enhanced security measures at the police station.

A protective barrier installed around the Matani police station premises prevented the explosives from falling inside the station’s compound. The CCPO said no casualties were reported in the incident.

He added that steps were being taken to strengthen the security of police stations in surrounding areas by installing specialised protective barriers to guard against similar drone attacks.

Security measures have been further tightened at vulnerable police facilities following the incident, the official said.
