CHAMAN: At least 14 Afghan Taliban fighters were reportedly killed after Pakistani security forces responded to what officials described as unprovoked firing from the Afghan side along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Chaman sector.
According to security sources, Afghan Taliban forces opened fire across the border in the Chaman sector, prompting an immediate and forceful response from Pakistani forces.
The retaliatory fire reportedly destroyed several Taliban border posts, with fires breaking out at some of the positions following the exchange.
Security sources said the deaths of 14 Afghan Taliban fighters had been confirmed in the initial reports, while the number of casualties could rise as further information becomes available.
Following the incident, security forces were placed on high alert in the border area.
