PESHAWAR: Security has been tightened across Peshawar amid concerns over possible attacks on police installations, with reconciliation proceedings and Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) at police stations temporarily suspended, police sources said.
According to police sources, entry of unauthorised and unrelated individuals into the Peshawar Police Lines has also been immediately restricted as part of enhanced security measures.
Sources said several Peshawar police stations had come under attack in recent days using hand grenades and drones. They added that security agencies had also raised concerns over possible attacks targeting police installations and mosques.
In view of the security situation, the reconciliation process being conducted at police station level through jirgas to resolve disputes involving land, property, money and other matters has also been suspended.
The activities of DRCs have similarly been temporarily halted.
Police sources said the reconciliation process and DRC activities would resume once the security situation returns to normal.
The temporary suspension is aimed at reducing public movement at police stations and limiting potential security risks amid heightened concerns over attacks on police facilities.
