TOKYO: Samsung’s new luxury foldable phone, the W27, could be unveiled on October 29, according to media reports.
A leaked photo has offered an early look at the phone’s design, but Samsung has not officially confirmed its launch date or specifications. The image shows a dark blue back panel, gold-coloured edges and three rear cameras. It also features a gold logo near the bottom.
The W27 is expected to share many features with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, although the company has yet to confirm its specifications. The phone could feature an 8-inch foldable main screen and a 6.5-inch outer screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and movement.
Other expected features include a 200-megapixel main camera, a 5,000mAh battery and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The phone may also have 16GB of RAM, allowing it to handle multiple apps and tasks smoothly.
Samsung’s W series features luxury versions of its foldable phones sold exclusively in China through China Telecom. These models typically come with premium designs and additional accessories.
The previous model, the W26, was available in red and black, with gold details. Its 512GB version was priced at 16,999 Chinese yuan, while the 1TB model cost 18,999 yuan. Samsung has not yet announced the W27’s price or storage options.
