PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched initiatives to provide young people across the province with more opportunities in different sectors, including sports.
As part of these efforts, the government has prioritised the development of sports facilities in the tribal district of Mohmand to promote sporting activities and encourage young players.
The initiative aims to keep young people away from negative activities and provide them with a healthy and positive environment through better access to sports facilities.
According to official sources, a total of 16 new cricket pitches and eight modern volleyball grounds are being constructed in Mohmand to promote sports among the district’s youth.
In the first phase, construction of six cricket pitches and three volleyball grounds has been completed, while work on the remaining facilities is being finalised. The remaining grounds are expected to be opened to players soon.
The provincial government has also decided to distribute free sports kits among children and young players alongside the construction of the grounds. The move is intended to help talented players from financially disadvantaged families continue participating in sports.
Officials said the measures aim to develop the sporting talent of young people in remote and tribal districts, strengthen basic sports infrastructure and promote peace and healthy activities across the province.
