Samsung is reportedly preparing to re-enter the premium over-ear wireless headphone market, with its upcoming device expected to compete with Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000X series.

The development could mark Samsung’s return to the premium headphone segment more than a decade after it last launched a comparable product. Reports suggest that evidence of a new headphone, internally referred to as Galaxy H1, has been found in the company’s Galaxy Wearable app.

Connection-status icons in the app indicate that the device could feature an over-ear wireless design. Leaked icons appear to show the headphones in white, grey and black, while some graphics depict grey or green ear cushions.

Images reportedly linked to the device show a broad headband and relatively large ear cups. However, the leaked visuals do not provide confirmation of the final design.

Samsung is expected to unveil the headphones in early 2027 or during the spring, although the company has yet to officially announce the product.

The upcoming headphones are rumoured to feature active noise cancellation, ambient sound, advanced Bluetooth connectivity, an AI assistant and automatic switching between Galaxy devices. These features, however, have not been officially confirmed.

The company could also integrate its Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality technology to deliver higher-resolution audio when paired with compatible Galaxy devices.

Samsung previously entered the wireless headphone market with the Level On Wireless Pro in 2015. A new Galaxy-branded over-ear headset would allow the company to strengthen its presence in the premium audio market while offering deeper integration with its Galaxy ecosystem.
