KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially announced a public holiday across the province on Friday, August 14, 2026, to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
According to a notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, the holiday will apply to all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions, corporations and local councils operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
However, institutions providing emergency and essential services will remain exempt from the holiday and continue their operations as usual.
As August 14 falls on a Friday, it will be followed by the regular Saturday and Sunday holidays, allowing citizens to enjoy three consecutive days off.
