PESHAWAR: The public and social circles of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have demanded that the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, speed up the ongoing development projects in the province and avoid any interruption amid public speculation.

People from different walks of life, including traders, students, and civil society members, said that hospitals, universities, road infrastructure, and Sehat Card-related projects should not become victims of political tussle.

Muhammad Ilyas, a shopkeeper from University Town Peshawar, said, “We voted for development. Whoever is in government, our roads, hospitals, and BRT should continue. Governor Sahib should not stop the projects started by the previous government.

Sajjad Khan, a final-year student at the University of Peshawar, said: “Many scholarships, HEC projects, and university funds have been delayed. Education should be kept away from politics. We demand that the Governor ensure continuity of all educational projects.

“Ayesha Bibi, a housewife from Swat, said: “Sehat Card is a blessing for poor families like us. If this facility is stopped or slowed down, poor patients will die at home. The governor should not hinder Sehat Card and public health projects.

“Haji Sarwar, President of Traders Association, Mingora, said: “The Swat Motorway Phase-II, Dir Motorway and other road projects are lifelines for tourism and business. Stopping these projects will increase unemployment. We request the Governor to let the work continue on these projects”.

A senior doctor at LRH said on condition of anonymity: “In hospitals like KTH, LRH and HMC, purchase and recruitment have been stopped due to political interference. This is affecting patient care.

Administration should run on rules, not on political revenge.”Advocate Rehmanullah said: “Under Articles 232 and 234, Governor’s Rule is for constitutional continuity, not to reverse development. The federal government should ensure that ongoing PSDP and ADP schemes continue.

“Public circles have appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to keep development above politics and ensure that all ongoing projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue without interruption.
