A representative body of private schools has urged the Punjab government to allow educational institutions to reopen on August 3, 2026, instead of the scheduled August 24, arguing that an earlier start would help minimize students’ academic losses.
The demand was made during a meeting of the Private School Solutions of Pakistan, chaired by its president, Malik Abdul Samad, where participants discussed challenges facing private educational institutions, government policies, and the continuity of academic activities.
Participants said reopening schools earlier would help compensate for learning losses and ensure the timely completion of the academic syllabus. The organisation called on the provincial government to permit private schools to resume classes from August 3.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Abdul Samad also urged unregistered private schools to complete their registration without delay to meet legal requirements and continue providing educational services without interruption.
The appeal comes as the Punjab government has announced summer vacations for both public and private schools and colleges across the province from May 22 to August 23, 2026, with institutions scheduled to reopen on August 24.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has launched a province-wide crackdown on unregistered private schools and academies. As part of the campaign, the District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore issued notices to 744 unregistered educational institutions in a single day.
According to officials, the notices direct school and academy owners to complete their registration within three days, warning that legal action will be initiated under the relevant Punjab laws if they fail to comply.
