RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face each other today (Sunday) in the second-T20 match to be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The match will begin at 6pm. Pakistan will look to seal the three-match T20I series, following their victory in the opening encounter. Sri Lanka, however, will be determined to bounce back and keep the series alive.

Weather conditions could also affect the match, as forecasts of rain have raised the possibility of interruptions. However, hopes remain for a full contest in Rawalpindi. Pakistan Captain Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat played a winning role in the first match, as Sri Lanka had scored 182/8 runs in 20 overs which Pakistan chased comfortably in 18.5 overs and secured the victory with seven balls remaining.

Pakistan’s aggressive start was a major factor in the victory, as the hosts accumulated 70 runs during the powerplay and maintained pressure on the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Sri Lanka will need a stronger all-round performance to prevent Pakistan from clinching the series in the second match.

Despite ending their innings at 182 for eight, the visitors could not defend the total, even after Lahiru Udara produced an impressive 91 off 55 balls, featuring 11 fours and a six. Pakistan’s bowling attack also made important contributions, with Naseem Shah claiming three wickets for 36 runs and debutant Mohammad Imran Randhawa taking two wickets for 21 runs.
