KARACHI: Pakistan Under-19 Women produced a commanding all-round performance after defeating South Africa Under-19 Women by 47 runs in the second T20, levelling the five-match series 1-1 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Pakistan chose to bat first and put up 125 for 4 in their 20 overs thanks to some great efforts from their opener Raveel Khan who played an unbeaten inning worth 68 runs from just 64 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes and won the Player of the Match award.
Komal Khan, Zo Afshan, and Rahiman Syed contributed 23, 12, and 8 runs respectively while the captain Fiza Fayyaz got retired hurt for 7 runs. Sher Bano was not out for 1 run. Ashleigh, Deidre van Rensburg, and Mia Lalor took one wicket each for South Africa.
In reply, South Africa were bowled out for 78 in 17.1 overs, falling well short of the 126-run target. Deidre van Rensburg top-scored with 20 runs, while captain Mieke van Voorst made 16 and Ashleigh added 13. Three South African batters were dismissed without scoring, and the final batter was unable to bat.
Pakistan’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Mah Noor Zaib leading the attack by taking 3 wickets for 21 runs. Mah Noor picked up 2 wickets for 19 runs, while Maham Nazakat, playing only her second match, impressed with 2 wickets for 8 runs. Sher Bano also chipped in with a wicket. South Africa had won the opening match of the series by four wickets. The third T20 of the five-match series is scheduled to be played on Sunday.
