Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) licensing has been officially launched in Pakistan to expand and modernize the telecom sector.
After the approval of the federal cabinet, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has invited applications from interested companies.
According to the PTA, companies that want to offer mobile services under their own brand name can apply for a virtual network license.
These companies will provide their services under agreements with existing licensed mobile network operators.
The authority says that this new policy will not only increase competition in the telecom sector but will also create new opportunities for innovation and investment. Consumers will also have more choice and better mobile services.
The PTA has issued complete terms and conditions related to eligibility, application and licensing in this regard so that new operators can be included under a transparent procedure.
According to officials, the launch of virtual mobile network operators will usher in a new era in Pakistan’s telecom sector, providing more options and better facilities to consumers.
