TRINIDAD: Pakistan staged a strong comeback on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies, dismissing the hosts for 311 after a disciplined bowling performance at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Resuming the day in a commanding position, the West Indies looked set for a much bigger total, but Pakistan’s bowlers turned the tide by claiming the remaining wickets at regular intervals. The visitors took the last seven wickets after the hosts had built a solid platform on Day 1.
Shai Hope fell just 8 runs short of a well-deserved century, scoring 92, while Hodge contributed a solid 84.
Pakistan’s seamers produced an excellent display of swing and seam bowling, with Muhammad Ali leading the attack with figures of 4/50, while Muhammad Abbas provided superb support with 3/63
Ali then completed his four-wicket haul by dismissing Jayden Seales for a duck, wrapping up the West Indies innings for 311 in 98.5 overs.
Ali starred with figures of 4/50 from 21.5 overs. Mohammad Abbas claimed three wickets, while Khurram Shahzad took two and Aamer Jamal chipped in with one as Pakistan produced a disciplined bowling performance.
