PESHAWAR: Serious questions have emerged over the quality and supervision of a recently installed AstroTurf hockey facility in Parachinar, Kurram district, after parts of the surface reportedly began separating from the base within just two months of installation.
Images obtained from the site show sections of the turf appearing detached from the foundation at multiple locations, raising concerns about construction standards and monitoring of the project.
According to official documents, authorities have recommended action against the contractor following the defects identified in the project. The development has intensified scrutiny over whether the installation was carried out according to required technical specifications.
Questions have also been raised regarding the inspection process, including which department or official approved the completed work and whether proper quality checks were conducted before the facility was opened for use.
Officials are also being asked to clarify whether the project remains within its warranty or defect liability period and what measures have been taken following the recommendation for action against the contractor.
The case has renewed debate over the oversight of publicly funded development projects and the need for stronger monitoring mechanisms to ensure infrastructure built with public money meets required quality standards.
