The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned national cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan tomorrow, Friday.
According to sources, the PCB had kept the cricketers’ mobile phones and sent them to the relevant institutions. Sources said that the NCCA has issued notices to Imam-ul-Haq and Muhammad Rizwan, in which the cricketers have been summoned.
Apart from Imam-ul-Haq and Muhammad Rizwan, the NCCA has also issued notices to another cricketer. According to sources, the NCCA will investigate the information obtained from the players’ mobile phones, while the PCB has not yet given any reason why the cricketers’ mobile phones were kept.
Sources say that Imam-ul-Haq and Muhammad Rizwan will appear at the NCCA Lahore tomorrow. Notices were issued to both players on Monday, in which they were summoned to the NCCA Lahore on Friday.
Sources said that both cricketers will have their mobile phones unlocked and will be questioned about the dressing room leaks during the England series.
Earlier PCB took strict disciplinary action against wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and opener Imam-ul-Haq after both players were released from the Pakistan squad during the ongoing tour of England, according to reports.
Sources said the PCB took what it described as serious measures in sending Rizwan and Imam back to Pakistan. A high-level investigative committee is also being formed to look into matters concerning Imam-ul-Haq.
According to a Geo News report, Imam could face a ban of one to two years over allegations related to a fake injury in the past. The PCB is expected to conduct a detailed inquiry before deciding on any disciplinary action.
The board also has serious concerns regarding Mohammad Rizwan’s discipline, sources said. He is expected to be questioned by the PCB in the coming days.
Sources further claimed that Rizwan is unlikely to be included in any Pakistan team in the near future and could face strict disciplinary action depending on the outcome of the board’s proceedings.
The PCB has yet to officially announce any ban or final disciplinary decision against either player.
