The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced biometric verification services to facilitate the sale, purchase, and transfer of registered vehicles in Sindh, providing significant relief to citizens.
Under the new procedure, the Excise and Taxation Department Sindh has made biometric verification mandatory for all registered vehicle transactions and ownership transfers.
Buyers and sellers can complete biometric verification at NADRA offices and e-Sahulat centers. The process can also be carried out remotely through NADRA’s Pak ID mobile application, enabling citizens to initiate vehicle transfer procedures from their homes.
Following successful biometric verification, both parties are required to prepare a written agreement on stamp paper bearing their signatures. Applicants must then visit the Civic Centre Karachi to obtain a token and submit the transfer application.
Required documents include the original registration book or smart registration card, copies of the national identity cards of both parties, photographs, and other relevant paperwork.
Vehicle transfer fees and token tax can be paid online or at Excise Department offices. The transfer fee for motorcycles has been set at Rs605, while vehicles with engine capacities between 800cc and 1,000cc will incur a transfer fee of Rs2,000.
Upon submission, applicants will receive an official receipt. After verification and processing, a new smart registration card in the buyer’s name is expected to be issued within 5 to 15 working days.
