BANNU: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi provided modern Bulletproof vehicles to Bannu Police Line, aimed at boosting the operational capabilities of the district police.
With the induction of these modern vehicles, Bannu Police’s operational capabilities will see a marked improvement. Police officials said these bulletproof vehicles will help in making the ongoing measures for establishment of law and order more effective, especially in the sensitive southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Bannu, being located in a sensitive region bordering North Waziristan, has been on the front line in the war against terrorism. Police and security forces in the area frequently face terrorist attacks, IED blasts, and targeted operations.
In such a scenario, the availability of armoured, bulletproof mobility was a long-standing demand of the force. The provision of these vehicles is part of the Federal Interior Ministry’s comprehensive plan to strengthen Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured that all possible resources will be provided to KP Police to combat terrorism. Sources said that more such vehicles, along with modern weapons, night vision devices, and other equipment, are also being provided to other districts of KP, including Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and North and South Waziristan bordering areas.
Senior police officials in Bannu welcomed the move, stating that bulletproof vehicles will not only protect the lives of police personnel during search operations, patrolling, and transportation of personnel, but will also increase the confidence of the force.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu appreciated the Federal Government’s support and said that Bannu Police stands as an iron wall against terrorism and, with improved resources, the fight against anti-peace elements will be made more effective.
It is worth mentioning that after the imposition of emergency and Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the federal government has increased its focus on equipping KP Police with modern resources to ensure peace and security in the province.
