According to Pakistan Metrological Department news spell of rain is expected in different parts of country starting from 12 (today) through April 17.
According to the Met, the current weather pattern is consistent with the seasonal outlook earlier issued in January. The authority has also released a broader forecast for the April to June period, indicating evolving climatic conditions in the coming months.
In another advisory, the NEOC stated that intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan between April 12 and 17. Some areas may also experience strong winds, dust storms and isolated hailstorms.
The forecast indicates that major cities including Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Mianwali and Mandi Bahauddin are expected to receive rain with intervals during the forecast period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur are likely to witness rain accompanied by thunder and gusty winds. Similar conditions are expected in Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Karak, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
The advisory further noted that upper regions including Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli and Neelum Valley may also receive rainfall, with snowfall expected in higher altitudes of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the same period.
In contrast, Sindh and Balochistan are likely to remain hot and dry, with a slight to moderate rise in daytime temperatures.
The NDMA warned that strong winds, lightning and hailstorms could damage vulnerable structures, trees and electricity infrastructure. Rainfall may lead to slippery roads and disrupt traffic flow, while snowfall in mountainous regions could hinder travel.
Authorities also cautioned that persistent rainfall in hilly areas may increase the risk of landslides, urging travelers to exercise caution.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, drive carefully and stay updated on weather conditions. Tourists planning visits to northern areas have been urged to check weather and road conditions before departure.
The NDMA has directed all provincial and district administrations to remain on alert and ensure preparedness to deal with any emergency situation.
