The Punjab government has decided to phase out manual college admissions across the province from 2027, shifting the entire process to a digital platform as part of its paperless policy.
Director Public Instruction (DPI) Punjab Dr Ansar Azhar said the move would streamline admissions and spare students and parents the inconvenience of visiting colleges and waiting in queues.
Under the new system, colleges will no longer issue printed prospectuses or admission forms. Applicants will instead submit forms and complete other admission-related procedures online.
The education department has already introduced online payment of college fees and plans to digitise the remaining stages of the admission process from the next academic year.
Dr Azhar urged students and parents to make use of the online system rather than visiting colleges in person.
The initiative is expected to cut paperwork, reduce delays and make college admission services more accessible to students across Punjab.
With the transition, applications, admission procedures and fee payments will be brought under a single digital system, effectively ending the traditional manual admission process in the province.
