PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has reportedly directed action against teachers accused of supporting the ousted provincial government and using social media to oppose the imposition of governor’s rule.

According to the available information, dozens of teachers from various districts of the province have been identified over their alleged social media activities. The reported action may include suspension and arrest, although the details of any formal orders or legal proceedings have not been independently verified.

The identified teachers reportedly include two Primary School Teachers (PSTs) from Upper Chitral, one from Abbottabad, five from Nowshera, 15 from Peshawar, 22 from Charsadda, 14 from Lower Dir, 20 from Swat, five from Haripur, 12 from Swabi, 34 from Mardan and 10 from Lakki Marwat.

Teachers from several tribal districts have also reportedly been identified for possible action.

The reported move has raised concerns about the treatment of government employees expressing political opinions on social media, particularly in the context of the prevailing political uncertainty in the province.

Further details regarding the authorities responsible for compiling the lists, the legal grounds for the proposed action and the status of any suspension or arrest orders were not available in the provided report.
