PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that it will purchase 225,000 tons of wheat from local farmers, in an effort to stabilize supply amid ongoing challenges.

Mazammil Aslam, finance advisor to the KP government, said that the provincial government will procure wheat at the rate of PKR 3,500 per maund using its own funds. According to him, the farmers will get the payments within 24 hours after delivery of wheat.

The government has made such an announcement amid increasing public dissatisfaction due to gas shortage, flour shortage, and lack of law and order. At a recently held meeting in Peshawar, KP chief minister Suhail Afridi pointed out that there was difficulty for the citizens due to ongoing problems, but the federal government has not provided constitutional rights to the province.

KP govt announces major relief for government employees

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Minister Muzammil Aslam has announced that salaries will be released to government employees of the province on May 20 amid Eid al-Azha preparations.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the release of salaries to government employees a week before Eid. So that government employees can do their Eid shopping on time.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzammil Aslam has said that in view of Eid-ul-Azha, it has been decided to pay salaries early to provide timely financial facilities to employees.

On the other hand, markets, bazaars, and shopping malls in Islamabad have been temporarily exempted from the restriction on business hours.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, all shops, bazaars, and shopping malls in the federal capital will be exempted from the restriction on working hours until May 31.

The notification states that bakeries, tandoors, restaurants, and grocery stores will also be exempted from this restriction, while this decision will come into effect immediately.

According to the Cabinet Division, this step has been taken with the approval of the Prime Minister to facilitate business activities.
