PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, alongside Provincial Minister for Housing, Dr Amjad Ali, detailed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s aggressive strategy to provide affordable and high-quality housing across the province.

Shafi Jan emphasised that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is committed to fulfilling the vision of founding chairman Imran Khan by ensuring every citizen has access to safe and dignified living conditions. He highlighted that over the past 12 years, the Housing Authority has successfully executed seven major projects valued at Rs 34 billion, resulting in the delivery of 10,477 flats and plots across 9,497 kanals of land.

Building on this momentum, the Special Assistant revealed that the government is currently fast-tracking another seven mega-projects with an investment of Rs 31 billion. These ongoing developments, which include Jarma Township, Bani Gul City Bannu, Hangu Township, Dinagram Housing Scheme Swat, and Mega City Nowshera, are set to provide 38,784 residential units covering a vast 30,447 kanals. Furthermore, the massive New Peshawar Valley project, a flagship residential venture spanning 106,000 kanals, has seen its PC-1 approved and is moving toward active implementation.

On the front of financial empowerment, Shafi Jan announced significant progress under the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme. The government is providing interest-free loans of Rs 1.5 million to citizens for house construction and expansion, with cheques for 114 successful applicants from the initial lottery scheduled for distribution shortly. Work has already commenced on the second phase of this scheme to reach a wider demographic. In a bid to prioritise the public sector workforce, a dedicated Housing Foundation has also been established to provide specialised housing facilities for government employees.

Technological transparency and administrative reform were also central themes of the briefing. Shafi Jan noted that the Housing Authority has achieved major milestones in the legal and administrative sectors over the last four months, including the approval of the Revised Land Sharing Regulations 2025. To eliminate corruption and improve accessibility, all housing services have been digitised via the Dastak app, and the E-PADs system has been implemented to ensure full transparency in all dealings. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the provincial government remains steadfast in its mission to deliver safe, affordable, and quality housing to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
