BANNU: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has requested the immediate deployment of additional Federal Constabulary platoons in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts, citing a deteriorating security situation caused by so-called police peace committees.
According to an official letter, the security situation in both districts has been declared alarming due to threats to officers, obstruction of official movement, road blockades, firing incidents, and the withdrawal of police personnel from sensitive installations.
The police have recommended the deployment of a total of nine platoons of the Federal Constabulary in Bannu and Lakki Marwat. The request includes 4 platoons for Lakki Marwat and 5 platoons for Bannu.
The letter states that the additional force will be tasked with providing security at key and sensitive locations, including the District Jail, Judicial Complex, District Administration offices, Deputy Commissioner Office, Bannu Bench of the Peshawar High Court, and Grid Stations.
Officials said the purpose of deploying additional security personnel is to prevent any untoward incidents, ensure the protection of important installations, and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
