LAKKI MARWAT: Police in Lakki Marwat killed five people, including three proclaimed offenders, in two separate encounters in the district.
According to police, acting on special instructions from DPO Lakki Marwat Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, a police party led by SHO Pezu conducted a search operation in the hilly area of Sheikh Badin based on secret information.
During the operation, armed suspects opened fire on the police. Police retaliated in self-defense.In the exchange of fire, two suspects were killed.
Police said the killed suspect, Tahir Shah was a highly wanted proclaimed offender involved in 11 cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery, theft, arms, and narcotics.
He was identified as the ringleader of a gang that targeted passengers and drivers in the hilly areas.
The second suspect killed was identified as Abid s/o Zaroli. Police recovered weapons from the dead suspects and took them into custody. A search operation in the area is ongoing.
Meanwhile, in another incident near Mashah Mansoor, three people including two proclaimed robbers were killed in firing.
According to police, among those killed were notorious proclaimed offender Aftab a resident of Chawarkhel, and his accomplice Bilawal s/o Shaukat Ullah. During the firing, a passerby, Iftikhar Ali s/o Mashah Mansoor, was also killed.
Police stated that both Aftab and Bilawal were wanted by police. After the incident, police collected evidence from the scene and further investigation is underway.
