PESHAWAR: A meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reviewed the complaints received by the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell and progress on their resolution from January to August 2026.

The meeting was informed that the Complaint Cell received a total of 3,551 complaints through various channels during the eight-month period.

According to the briefing, 499 complaints were resolved on the spot at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, while citizens were provided with the necessary guidance in relevant cases. Another 498 complaints were deemed unactionable due to jurisdictional limitations or legal complications.

A total of 2,610 complaints were forwarded to the relevant provincial departments for necessary action. Of these, relief was provided in 988 cases, partial relief was granted in 11 cases, while action on 781 complaints was still in progress.

The briefing further stated that 774 complaints were found unfit for action as they did not meet the required merit criteria.

Land disputes and education-related issues remained among the prominent categories of complaints received by the Complaint Cell.

Regarding the channels through which complaints were received, the meeting was told that 1,090 complaints were submitted manually, 1,047 through WhatsApp, 687 via email, 343 through phone calls, 273 through Facebook and 111 through X.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the performance of the government would not be judged by meetings and presentations but by the testimony and satisfaction of the people.

He said effective resolution of public complaints and people’s participation in governance were part of PTI founder Imran Khan’s vision, which the provincial government was pursuing on practical grounds.

The chief minister said the future of the provincial government and bureaucracy was linked to public satisfaction.

He directed that the relief provided to citizens through the Complaint Cell should be publicised so that more people could benefit from the facility.
