PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will present the annual budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the provincial assembly today, while the budget will be approved on June 28.
According to the schedule issued by the assembly secretariat, the finance minister will present the annual budget in the meeting to be held today, Friday, June 19, at 2:00 pm. On this occasion, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Bill 2026 and the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 will also be placed before the house.
Four days have been allocated for general discussion on the budget. On June 22, 23, 24, and 27, members of the assembly will express their views on the budget proposals, while on June 28, the demands for funds and the finance bill will be approved.
According to the schedule, the assembly session will not be held on June 20 and 21 under the rules, while the house session will not be held on June 25 and 26 due to the Ashura holidays. In the second phase of the budget session, after the general debate is completed on June 27, voting will be held on the annual budget demands, while the finance bill will be approved, and the authorized expenditure schedule will be ratified on June 28.
According to the assembly secretariat, a general debate will be held on the supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 on June 29, while the budget proceedings will be completed with voting on the supplementary budget demands and ratification of authorized expenditure on June 30.
The budget session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is of exceptional importance in terms of important decisions related to the province’s future financial strategy, development projects, and revenues.
