The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started finalizing the budget with total outlay of 1600 billon for the fiscal year 2026-27, while the provincial budget is likely to be presented on June 14.

According to the finance department, it has been decided to complete 218 priority development projects in the budget for the next fiscal year. For this purpose, a proposal to allocate 80 per cent of development funds for ongoing projects and 20 per cent for new projects is under consideration.

According to sources, the government has decided to prioritize investment in mega projects instead of distributing financial resources across a large number of projects to achieve better results of development expenditure.

According to the Finance Department, the total number of development projects in the coming fiscal year is proposed to be limited to about 2,500, while it has also been decided to further reduce the through-forward to Rs 1,500 billion.
