ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police have announced a traffic management plan for the central procession being held to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), advising citizens to use alternative routes during the event.
According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, the main procession will begin from the Rehmat Community Centre Ground in G-7 and proceed via Jamia Masjid Al-Raza in G-7, Jamia Masjid Al-Habib in G-7/3 and Street 55. It will then move along the service road near Iqbal Hall, Sadr, Melody Chowk and Aabpara before concluding at the Soharwardi Sakhhi Mahmood Darbar.
Several roads along the procession route will be diverted during the event.
Traffic coming from Sitara Market towards Iqbal Hall and Sadr Road will be diverted. Citizens may use the service road near the Dak Khana Stop, while traffic approaching from the Fire Brigade side has been advised to use Soharwardi Road, Zero Point and Faisal Avenue.
Traffic from Iqbal Hall towards the G-7/3 service road and Raziya Sharif Plaza will also be diverted. Motorists have been advised to use 7th Avenue as an alternative.
A diversion will be in place on Fazal Haq Road from China Chowk towards Kulsum Plaza, with motorists advised to use Jinnah Avenue instead.
Traffic between Shuhada Chowk, GPO Chowk and Melody-Aabpara Chowk will be diverted, while motorists have been advised to use Shaheed Millat Road from GPO Chowk.
Traffic from Aabpara Chowk towards Soharwardi Road and 7th Avenue Chowk will also face diversions. Citizens travelling from Zero Point and Rawalpindi have been advised to use 7th Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Srinagar Highway.
Islamabad Traffic Police urged citizens to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the procession route.
The police also advised motorists to follow official traffic updates through Islamabad Traffic Police’s social media platforms and listen to ITP FM 92.4 for the latest information.
