ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top-order batters Fakhar Zaman and Saem Ayub have been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia due to injuries.

It is reported by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that they are still recuperating and under treatment and thus are unable to feature in the ODI series.

The ODI series begins on May 30 at Rawalpindi Stadium, while the second and third matches are slated to be played on June 2 and June 4 respectively at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

While Saem Ayub’s exclusion from the list of players can prove costly for Pakistan, he has provided some outstanding innings for Pakistan since debuting last year in 2024 in ODIs. On the other hand, Fakhar Zaman has been a key element in the one-day batting lineup of Pakistan for a couple of years now.

Wishing both of the injured players an early recovery, the PCB promised updates about the selected players and other injury situations shortly.

Fakhar Zaman finally breaks silence amid retirement speculations

Earlier, Pakistan’s star opener Fakhar Zaman has responded to the rumours about his retirement from T20 cricket.

National cricketer Fakhar Zaman says that he had seriously considered saying goodbye to the game after the end of the T20 World Cup 2026, but later changed his decision and decided to continue playing cricket.

He clarified that he has no intention of retiring at present and wants to end his T20 career magnificently and memorably.

It should be noted that 35-year-old Fakhar Zaman is a key player in T20 Internationals for Pakistan, whose record has been very impressive.

He has so far scored 2,494 runs in 120 international matches at an impressive strike rate of 132.51, including 14 half-centuries.

Fakhar Zaman is also known for his explosive batting in the PSL, where he is representing Lahore Qalandars for the 11th consecutive season.
