PESHAWAR: The national identity cards and passports of 80 absconding suspects wanted in attempted murder cases have been blocked following recommendations from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, officials said.
Authorities have informed Peshawar airport and immigration officials about the development and issued necessary instructions to relevant agencies. Lists of the suspects have also been circulated to immigration authorities at airports across the country.
According to officials, national identity cards of 35 suspects wanted by the Capital City Police have been blocked, while restrictions have also been imposed on their travel abroad.
The authorities have further barred the suspects from buying or selling property, as part of measures aimed at preventing them from evading arrest and accessing assets while remaining at large.
The remaining suspects are reportedly linked to various tribal districts, southern districts and other settled areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Immigration authorities have been directed to remain vigilant and prevent the listed suspects from leaving the country. The measures are part of an ongoing effort to track down absconding suspects and bring them before the law.
Major Anti-Tout Drive Launched in Peshawar Courts, 35+ Cards Seized
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association has launched a campaign to eliminate toutism and unauthorized activities from court premises, with a special team identifying alleged touts and taking action against individuals carrying fake cards.
Under special directives issued as part of the anti-toutism drive, the administration of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association has been instructed to identify touts operating at the Peshawar High Court and District Courts and verify cards issued by the Lawyers’ Clerks Association.
The special team carried out an operation at the Peshawar District Courts and confiscated cards from more than 35 individuals allegedly found carrying fake or unauthorized cards.
The bar association said applications seeking registration of cases against the individuals have been submitted to the East Police Station for further legal action.
The Executive Council of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association has also suspended the issuance of lawyers’ clerks cards under the previous procedure until further orders.
As part of the measures, all clerks’ cards previously issued by the Clerks Association have been cancelled. The association said new cards will be issued only after proper verification and authentication, once its executive council formally informs its members about the revised procedure.
The bar association said the campaign would continue without discrimination against individuals involved in illegal activities within court premises.
The Executive Council also appealed to lawyers and its members to cooperate fully with the campaign to help eliminate toutism and ensure a more transparent and orderly environment in the courts.
