‎SWAT: Heavy rain lashed several districts of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, triggering urban flooding, landslides, and disruption to daily life.

‎According to the Met Office, intense showers were recorded in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Swat, Dir, and Chitral. Low-lying areas in these districts reported waterlogging, while mountainous regions faced the risk of flash floods and landslides.

‎The Provincial Disaster Management Authority, PDMA, has issued alerts to district administrations in vulnerable areas. Rescue 1122 teams have been placed on high alert and directed to remain on standby for emergency response.

‎Officials said that several link roads in upper Kohistan and Shangla were temporarily blocked due to landslides. Work to clear the roads is underway.

‎The Met Office has forecast more rain and thunderstorms in northern KP over the next 24 to 48 hours. Authorities have advised residents living near rivers, streams, and hilly areas to take precautionary measures.

‎The Irrigation Department is closely monitoring water levels in the River Indus and its tributaries. So far no major loss of life has been reported, but PDMA has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay away from nullahs and weak structures during the rain spell.
