MIR ALI: Unknown assailants opened fire on the official vehicle of Assistant Commissioner Miranshah Abdul Qayum in the Hadi Karam Kot area of Mir Ali Tehsil in North Waziristan on Sunday, but all occupants remained safe.

According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 2:50pm on August 30, 2026, when the assistant commissioner’s official vehicle, a white Toyota Revo bearing registration number A-2005, was travelling from Miranshah to Bannu for official duties.

The vehicle came under fire from an unidentified direction near Hadi in Mir Ali Tehsil. One bullet reportedly struck the vehicle.

Assistant Commissioner Abdul Qayum was not present in the vehicle at the time of the attack. However, his staff members and the driver escaped unhurt.

Following the incident, law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.

The incident has raised fresh security concerns in the area. Previously, former Assistant Commissioner Miranshah Shah Wali Khan was killed while travelling from Miranshah to Bannu within the limits of Bannu district.
