AMSTERDAM: Germany successfully defended their Hockey World Cup title after defeating Spain 1-0 in the final of the 2026 tournament.
Germany scored the only goal of the final through Stroothoff in the third quarter. The German side held on to their narrow lead for the remainder of the match to secure another World Cup triumph.
With the victory, Germany equalled Pakistan’s record of four Hockey World Cup titles.
Pakistan and Germany now stand level with four World Cup championships each, making them the joint-most successful teams in the history of the tournament.
