NETHERLANDS: India beat Pakistan 5-3 in the Hockey World Cup and eliminated their arch rivals from the competition after the national team failed to secure even a single victory in the event.
India won the match held in the Netherlands against Pakistan by a scoreline of 5-3.
Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek both found the back of the net twice for India whereas Hannan Shahid scored twice for Pakistan while Sufyan Khan added one goal to their tally.
India kept up the pace in the match since the beginning and was 4-2 ahead of Pakistan in the end of first quarter.
The Indian team increased their lead to 5-2 at the end of the third quarter while Pakistan could manage only one goal in the fourth and last quarter of the match.
Pakistan lost to England in their previous match whereas their match against Wales ended in a draw 3-3.
Loss to India marked the end of Pakistan’s participation in the Hockey World Cup.
