The government has increased the age limit and number of attempts for candidates willing to appear in the Provincial Management Service (PMS) examination and has also issued its notification.

According to the S&GAD (Services and General Administration Department), the age limit for appearing in the PMS examination has been increased from 30 to 32 years, while candidates will now get 4 attempts instead of 3.It has been clarified in the notification that this relaxation will be a one-time concession for the PMS examinations of 2026 and 2027.

The Punjab Government has taken this decision using the powers obtained under Section 23 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974. It has been stated in the notification that the Governor of Punjab has approved this increase in age and chances despite anything contained in the relevant rules and regulations.

In the fresh notification issued by the Punjab Government, it has also been announced that the notification No. SOR-I(S&GAD)9-2/2022 issued on August 19, 2026. The fresh notification was issued from Lahore on October 2, 2026, and its copies have been sent to the relevant authorities and institutions for information and necessary action.
