ISLAMABAD: The federal government has made a significant decision to temporarily enforce a work-from-home policy for employees in government offices located within Islamabad’s Red Zone.

It has been learned through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division of Pakistan that employees working in government ministries, departments and other offices based in the Islamabad Red Zone shall start working from home from Monday, April 20, 2026.

While employees will be allowed to work from home as per the announcement, a notification revealed that all employees would remain on stand-by duty at their workplaces and can be summoned when necessary to carry out routine government work.

The government has claimed that this step will help maintain administrative continuity while keeping in view the security and convenience of employees. Necessary measures have been taken for the smooth performance of governmental tasks even during remote work.

Furthermore, in another news update, the spokesperson for Islamabad Police assured people that there will be some inconvenience in the services of certain police stations from April 20, 2026.
