ISLAMABAD: The German Embassy in Islamabad on Sunday announced the temporary closure of its visa and consular sections starting tomorrow, April 20, 2026.
The closure, which is expected to last until at least April 21, comes as a direct result of extensive road closures and heightened security measures in the capital linked to the ongoing high-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran.
Embassy officials have explicitly advised all applicants to refrain from visiting the visa section during this period for their own safety and convenience.
Aufgrund der Sperrungen des öffentlichen Raums in Islamabad um die USA-Iran-Gespräche bleiben die Visastellen der Deutschen Botschaft Islamabad morgen, 20. April bis mindestens 21. April geschlossen.
Antragsteller werden gebeten, nicht zu erscheinen. Die Termine werden verschoben— Ina Lepel (@GermanyinPAK) April 19, 2026
The mission confirmed that all appointments scheduled for these dates will be proactively rescheduled, and affected individuals will be contacted with updated timing. While the diplomatic talks continue to impact movement within the city’s red zone and surrounding areas, the embassy will monitor the situation closely before determining a definitive date for the resumption of full consular services.
