SKARDU: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam has said that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan is the top priority of the government, where initiatives like road construction, solarisation projects and Danish Schools are underway, which are leading the region on the path of development and prosperity.
The Government of Pakistan is taking practical steps to empower the youth, and the “Prime Minister Laptop Scheme” is an important link in this chain that is helping students adapt to modern requirements.
Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam was addressing the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme ceremony at the University of Baltistan, Skardu, as the chief guest. A large number of Vice Chancellors, teachers, students and distinguished guests were present on the occasion.
In his address, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam said that the establishment of the University of Baltistan is a valuable gift of former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, which played an important role in promoting higher education in the region and providing opportunities to the youth at the local level. He appreciated the efforts of the university administration and teachers and said that this institution has achieved a prominent position in a short period of time.
Engineer Amir Muqam said that the vision of the current Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is to equip the youth with education, skills and technology so that they can compete on the global stage. He urged the students to use the laptop not just as a tool but as the key to their success.
During his address, the Federal Minister appreciated the leadership of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Field Marshal and said that the national leadership has played an important role in establishing peace at the global level. He said that Pakistan has made effective diplomatic efforts as a responsible state. The Prime Minister maintained constant contact with the global leadership and presented Pakistan as the centre of negotiations, while Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played an important role at the diplomatic level and took practical steps to reduce tension in the region and establish peace, which was appreciated at the global level.
He also paid tribute to the services of Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and said that under his leadership, the Prime Minister Youth Program has become a ray of hope for the youth.
Earlier, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at the university.
The Vice Chancellor apprised the Federal Minister about the educational performance of the institution. The Federal Minister also planted a sapling in the university lawn. Muslim League (N) office bearers were also present on the occasion.
