KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said that imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be the last option, warning that the provincial government would suffer the consequences if it continued pursuing what he described as extremist politics.

Addressing a public gathering in Karachi’s Baldia Town, Bilawal expressed concern over the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and criticised the provincial leadership for abandoning democratic dialogue.

He said the chief minister had moved away from the democratic path of negotiations towards what he described as negative and extremist politics, causing serious harm to the country and particularly to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bilawal Warns PTI Over Political Strategy

The PPP chairman said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was suffering the most from its confrontational political approach.

He warned that if the party continued with what he described as stubbornness and a negative attitude, it could eventually lose its role in the provincial government.

Bilawal stressed that the continuation of confrontational politics could have serious political consequences for PTI and the province.

Federal Government Was Ready to Impose Emergency, Bilawal Claims

During his address, Bilawal also revealed that the federal government had been prepared to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a few days earlier.

However, he maintained that governor’s rule would remain the last option, indicating that the situation should not necessarily lead to such a measure.

His remarks come amid growing political tensions surrounding the provincial government and renewed debate over the possibility of federal intervention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PPP chairman’s statement has brought renewed attention to the province’s political future, the role of democratic negotiations and the potential consequences of continued confrontation between political forces.
