PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has said that individuals involved in the May 9 incidents should be punished in accordance with the law.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, the governor said Pakistan’s armed forces had effectively responded to external threats and strengthened the country’s national defence. He added that the international community was closely observing Pakistan’s diplomatic and strategic approach.

Kundi said all state institutions had worked together in the national interest through effective diplomacy, adding that Pakistan had succeeded in bringing opposing forces to the negotiating table.

He expressed hope that important regional decisions would be made on Pakistani soil and praised overseas Pakistanis for representing the country with pride around the world.

Commenting on economic matters, the governor said fuel prices were increasing due to petroleum imports from multiple sources. He also criticized the federal government’s handling of issues related to CNG associations.

The governor further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had faced unfair treatment in certain matters and stressed that the local transport sector was dealing with multiple challenges that required government relief measures.

Addressing taxation concerns, Kundi said all Pashtuns should not be labeled as tax evaders and urged the federal government to issue transparent data instead of making generalized allegations. He added that efforts would be made to resolve issues related to CNG, former FATA/PATA taxes, and other regional concerns.
