ISLAMABAD: The federal government is considering a major relief package for the salaried class in the upcoming budget for fiscal year 2026–27, according to official sources.
Presentation of the budget has been fixed for June 5, while the Economic Survey will come out one day earlier that is June 4. Meetings of both National Assembly and Senate have been called, and the program of the Budget Session has been finalized by President Asif Ali Zardari.
Federal Cabinet too has planned to hold its meeting on June 5 for giving approval to budget proposals.
Sources revealed that the proposals for providing relief to salaried people include an increase of 10% in the salaries of government servants. There is also consideration of combining one out of the four relief allowances into the basic salary.
According to the budget proposal, tax concessions for individuals whose monthly incomes range from Rs 100,000 to Rs 200,000 are under consideration. Besides, the proposals include reduction in income taxes for individuals whose annual income falls within Rs 1.2m-Rs 2.2m.
